It's a huge game at the top of the table this Wednesday evening and with very little football on in the local area we hope to see as many of you as possible at Bayliss Avenue for what is sure to have an impact on the promotion places come the end of the season.
There is nothing better than live football, but if you can't make it, the game will be broadcast live on our website and YouTube by the ever reliable Tom Riding from Sports Performance Analysis as he races back from Cheltenham mid afternoon.
Welling Town v Erith and Belvedere, match preview from the SCEFL website ....
On Wednesday night the First Division throws up undoubtably the biggest game of the season so far as the two title favourites meet at Bayliss Avenue. Welling Town hold a six-point lead over tonight's opponents but have played 4 games more than Erith & Belvedere so will be desperate to extend their advantage further. Defeat in their last game ended a 7-match unbeaten run and now the 'Boots' are coming close to them losing the position they have held since day one. The visitors have put together a stunning sequence of results to close in on the leaders and after 17 games without defeat they now find themselves close to completing a charge to the top. When the two faced off at Park View Road in October Welling Town walked away as 5-1 victors but both sides have changed a lot since then and a similar scoreline would be unlikely to occur. There is no bigger game in Non League football tonight so Thamesmead is the place to be for anyone wanting to watch two of the best sides in step 6 football going head-to-head for the right to be best positioned to take the First Division title.
