Tomorrow is a massive day for the club as we make our debut in semi-professional football in the Southern Counties East Football League.
We've only been around four years, and even just two years ago we didn't have a Saturday side, and to progress from nothing to Step 6 in two years is something I am very proud of, and all members of staff, players, coaches, managers, volunteers and helpers, past and present, have worked very hard to achieve. Well done to all and thank you.
So tomorrow, we start with Rochester United away. We've been named in a couple of online polls as title favourites by keen observers of non-league football, but we're taking nothing for granted at all. We're confident, but we know there are many, many good players and teams in SCEFL Division One, and certainly Rochester United who were playing in the Premier last season, are a side we would on paper expect to be up the top end of the division. We expect a tough test.
Assistant Manager Mike Jones had this to say ... "The eve of an historic day as we look to start our first ever campaign at this level in the Southern Counties East First Division
After very successful seasons in the last two years, we hope to bring some of that into this year but we know it’ll be challenging with the quality of sides that we’ll face in the league
We’ll look to continue to entertain and be professional and respectful, and we look forward to this season in what we’re sure will be an exciting few months!"
We look forward to the new challenges ahead and to meeting Rochester United and their players, management and officials tomorrow.
