MOTM curse avoided as Reserves rally in the Second Half
Before the game Manager Tristan and Assistant Manager Michael collected the Kent County League Manager of the month award for January after 4 straight wins
Whispers of the curse were around the pitch especially as the reserves were slow to start.
SE Ath moved the ball quicker in behind the Welling Town full backs and caused problems early on. The hosts were denied an opener by the linesman’s flag half way through the first half.
Going in at half time 0-0 Tristan was the happier of the 2 managers.
After a few changes at half time Welling began to establish themselves in the game.
After a series of missed chances it looked like a 0-0 was on the cards.
With 20 minutes to go Pat Wards flick on fell to new signing Luke Bewick to score the opener and his first for the club.
A nervy few minutes ensued as SE Ath tried to equalise.
The game was made safe for the visitors when a solo piece of skill and ingenuity from Harry Main saw the striker turn the defence inside out before slotting home from a tight angle.
